Did you know Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Lent.

Although it's often called Mothers' Day it has no connection with the US festival of that name.

Traditionally, it was a day when children, mainly daughters, who had gone to work as domestic servants were given a day off to visit their mother and family.

Crown Glass Shopping Centre has opened voting between local schools for the best A Poem For My Mother poetry competition.

The poem that has the most LIKES across ALL of the schools poetry albums on its Facebook page will be the People’s Choice’ winner.

The child whose poem receives the most likes will receive a £25 shopping voucher and a £25 voucher for their Mum.

There will be one winner chosen from all of the entries across all of the schools involved.

Competition ends10am on Thursday, March 8.
