Being a governor is incredibly rewarding – you have a chance to work as part of a team to be a ‘critical friend’ to support and challenge the head teacher and school to achieve the very best education for the children and to set the strategic direction for the school.

North Somerset Council is looking for someone to join its natural environment team.
As our principal ecologist, you’ll play a major role in helping us to improve biodiversity in our parks and open spaces, and delivering our first Green Infrastructure Strategy.
You’ll have an understanding of ecological planning issues and will lead a team to respond to planning applications, including completion of Habitat Regulation Assessments and the management of complex cases.
You'll also be an experienced bat ecologist, with one or more European protected species licences, have an understanding of UK wildlife legislation and hold CIEEM membership.
The role is full-time (37 hours a week) and being offered on a permanent contract.
The salary range is from £38,296 to £43,516 depending on skills and experience.
Due to the work involved, having a valid driving licence and own transport, or an alternative and suitable method of travel, is essential for this role.
