Spectrum65 is delighted to announce the return of its annual art exhibition, following the success of last year’s event.

This year’s exhibition is at No65 High Street, Nailsea, on Friday, October 16, 12.30–5pm and Saturday, October 17, 10am–4pm.

Visitors can enjoy a vibrant and diverse display of artwork created by local artists, meet members of the group, watch a live art demonstration, and even vote for their favourite piece.

Many works will also be available to purchase. Entry is free, and refreshments including tea and coffee will be served.

This year the Spectrum65 artists have taken small parts of a poster of the iconic painting called A Bar at the Folies-Bergère, a painting by Édouard Manet and produced their own interpretation of the piece.

This will be put together into a collage which will be on show at the event.

The bar aux Folies Bergère is a painting by Édouard Manet, considered to be his last major work.

It was painted in 1882 and exhibited at the Paris Salon of that year. It depicts a scene in the Folies Bergère nightclub in Paris.

The painting originally belonged to the composer Emmanuel Chabrier, a close friend of Manet, and hung over his piano.

It is now in the Courtauld Gallery in London.  Apparently it was painted on the first time that electricity had been used at the Folies-Bergère

Spectrum65 is a friendly, creative group of local residents who meet every Wednesday morning at No65 High Street to paint, share ideas, and enjoy good company - with plenty of tea, coffee and cake.

New members are always welcome — simply drop in on a Wednesday from 10am to 12.15pm, or contact manager Trudy Hollow at No. 65 High Street, or Jeff on 07399 457 211, for more details.

Trudy said: “The Spectrum65 Art Group work incredibly hard to create this exhibition, and the standard of work on display is always inspiring.

"We’re thrilled to showcase the talents of local artists here in Nailsea and would love people to pop in, see the artwork, and learn more about what we do at No65.”

No65 High Street is a community hub run by Nailsea Town Council, offering a welcoming drop-in space, advice, and support.

It hosts a wide range of groups and services that focus on wellbeing and community connection — from Citizens Advice North Somerset and Nailsea Disability Initiative, to the Climate Café, Youth Club (Juniors), and The Hive Business Support drop-in.
